Righto,
I'm getting married in Ravello in Southern Italy on the Amalfi coast this summer. My one and only job is to choose a car for us.
As we are eloping it's just me and my lady so we dont need anything too big. The car will mainly be used for photos, and i doubt we would even use it as a bridal car etc.
Now I don't know what car I want to choose. I think I want a classic, and Italian to match the wedding.
My Three favourites from the big three
Ferrari dino
Lambo Miura
Alfa 33 stradale - rare as hens teeth, but god it is gorgeous
I have found a Ferrari 250GT in silver i could rent
So I'm looking or suggestions.
1) I don't want modern cars ( a Ferrari F40 must nearly be a classic right)
2) This is all hypotheticals at the moment...i can try to make it happen later
3) I want high end cars, yes the fiat 500 is nice and the fiat600 multipla is unique but i'm a car guy
4) Prefer italian but any 50-70's sportscar could be considered ( think MGA, E-Type vert, 356 etc)
5) No Yank Tanks, nothing wrong with them. Just not for the wedding.
Thanks
Rosco

The Alfa if you could find it. It's gorgeous.
If not, the Ferrari 250GT is classy.

I like the 250GT because it's a convertible. For a wedding, that's a good choice.

1. 250GT would be great.
2. Mind sharing where you found that for rent? I'm headed to the Monaco F1 in May and was going to fly into Rome and drive to Monaco. The plan has been to rent an old Alfa. I'm sure they won't rent the 250GT for me to put 1000km on but it never hurt to ask and oh would that be awesome.

I´d doubt you´ll be able to rent a 33 Stradale/Miura. Even so, the Ferrari 250 would be an excellent choice!
Also, congratulations!!
BTW does it have to be Italian? The Citroen Traction Avant is really affordable, easy to rent and imo is a really classy choice...You can deposit the saved money into my account :p

I don't think you'll find a 33 or a Miura for rent....? Can't imagine that. The 250GT is nice and classy, our Cars and Coffee gets a couple of them and a 330 and they seem nice to listen to and drive.

Congrats, and the 250GT would be great. Do you know if it has to be white, or doesn't matter?

It'll be tough to find, let alone find one you can rent for pics but how about a 1952 Ferrari Barchetta 212?

First off congrats.
Secondly you are one lucky bastard if you can afford to rent something like a Ferrari 250; especially in Italy!
Personally I'd go for something like a Series 1 E-type OTS

I love the Dino but of the choices you've provided, how can you not go with the Alfa 33? Hella rare and amazingly gorgeous. That being said, I think the 250 GT spider makes a better wedding car. Stuffing your bride into a race car, not so much.
Another suggestion from the Ferrari range, if you can find one, would be the 275 GTB. It's in that transition period between classic Italian curves and smooth aero-driven design that was on the way. Very sporty looking and the coupe is gorgeous. It's one of my favorites.
The only other thing that really stands out to me as a gorgeous Euro sports car from that era is the Mercedes 300SL.

Hah thanks. We are saving alot of money by not getting married in australia.
Average Aussie wedding = $48,000 AUD!
Elope to Italy = $10,000 including accommodation and travel for 3 weeks

The one in my profile pic is one of them.

Those are some amazing options! I borrowed a friends' '53 Jaguar XK120FHC, a very photogenic machine. A E-type would be a stunner, but if you're going to do it, go for broke & do the 250.

Sir, you appear to have a sizable about of money soooo... single-seaters for everybody!
Honestly a fleet of Light Car Company Rockets pulling up to or leaving from a wedding would be a very fantastic thing.
